Course Overview:
This course is a chronological survey of American Literature and its historical perspectives including non-fiction, short stories, novels, poetry, and drama. Emphasis is on reading for understanding, terminology, structure, analysis of literature, and on the development of composition skills. Instruction in student writing continues through an ordered sequence of personal and literary essays. Instruction in grammar focuses on review and how to create a research project integrating multi-media sources.
Please use the links in the menu to follow along with this course. The Course Calendar states what is done in class, what the homework is and will contain any links or files that are needed for assignments or were used in class. Online discussions will take place on each Novel page.
Please note: You do NOT have to be a member of this wiki to access the Course Calendar or download any files. You DO have to be a member to participate in online discussion or to post on pages. Students: please become members the first week of school (see link on How to Join). Parents: it is not necessary to become members, but please feel free to view the calendar to see what is happening in class.

Extra credit is offered the first week and last week of the trimester through the Common Assessment. The Pre Test Common Assessment is 1% extra credit added at midterm. The Post Test Common Assessment is up to 2% added the last week.
Test Corrections are offered before or after school for one week after a test is returned. The last correction date will be posted in the room. 1/2 credit per corrected answer can be earned.
